Screen Printing

Screen Printing involves creating a stencil, known as a screen, and then using that screen to apply ink on the printing surface. Each individual color is applied using a different screen, one at a time, combined to achieve the final look. The more colors a design has, the more screens that are needed, and the more setup time required.

In some situations, the heat press method is a better option. A heat press is a machine created to imprint a design on a garment, with the application of heat and pressure for a preset period of time. Individual designs are pre-cut out of vinyl and pressed on the garment. This is an excellent option for low quantity orders that have a simple, minimal color design. It also works well for individual names or numbers required on garments.

Here are some pricing factors when considering a screen printed or heat pressed garment:

Type of Garment

For almost every product type, there are inexpensive, mid-range, and high-end options.

Quantity Ordered

Due to the setup involved in screen printing, the more shirts you order, the lower your price will be. When lower quantities are required, heat press becomes a more economical option. Also note, that later ‘Add-Ons’ to your order may not be guaranteed at the initial price.

Number of Locations

Each location requires new setup and runs for your printing. A front print only will always be cheaper than a front and back print – even if a total of 2 colors we used – the more locations printed, the higher the cost.

Number of Colors
The number of colors in each design affects the run time and setup for each location. A one color print will be less expensive than a three color print. This is true for both screen printing and heat press options.
Turnaround Time
Orders are produced on-demand for your due date. Garments needed in a few days from your order placement date will be more expensive than those needed in a few weeks. This is determined by shipping costs for supplies, as well as the current production schedule and the additional hours/overtime required.
